Announcing Two Releases: a Short Story and an Anthology

Posted: July 24, 2018

Today I have two announcements to make.

Let’s start with the anthology.

Nightly Bites Volume 2 includes my short story The Blood is on the Wall, its second appearance in an anthology. If you’ve picked up Fiction River: Editor’s Choice, then you already have this short story. If not, I hope you’ll consider picking it up now.

The Blood is on the Wall is about a UN soldier during a vampire apocalypse. A pretty dark tale if I say so myself.

The other 9 stories in the anthology are all vampires stories. So if you enjoy stories with vampires, this anthology is for you; also pick up volume 1 too (I’m not in it, but who can say no to vampires?).

You can pick it up in ebook here. Paperback is also available most places, finding it online is probably easiest and quickest.

My second announcement is a release of a new short story: At the Traffic Lights.

At the Traffic Lights book coverA contemporary tale that I had a great time writing.

The traffic light flashes yellow in an otherwise perfect neighborhood. Model houses, white picket fences, green lawns.

Everything completely normal except for the broken light.

A woman waiting for the car that will change everything.

At the Traffic Lights is only available in ebook as of yet; you can find links to most places it is buyable at here.

That was all for this time. I hope your summer reading is great. Mine have been so far.

Starting next month (or possible September), I will start sharing my favorite entertainment (aka books, games, movies, etc) on the blog. So look for that blogging series to compliment my monthly pictures.

Anthology Galore!

Posted: June 27, 2017

I’ve been a little slow in my announcement of my publications, so I have several exciting projects to tell you about.

In November last year, Fiction River: Last Stand was released with my story “Magic and Sacrifice”. I co-edited that anthology with Dean Wesley Smith and it turned out extremely well. I am so happy with all the stories; they are all great. They all show case different kinds of last stands.

My story takes a lot of inspiration from the battle at Thermopylae. So few spartans, so many enemies. A classic last stand. I narrowed it down to one woman and one man fighting to save their country from invasion of a neighboring country. A high fantasy tale.

I highly recommend every story in this anthology. Dean and I had a blast putting this together. We had so many quality stories to choose from, a real embarrassment of riches. We get to share it in a volume I’m very proud of.

Buy it here (a link that leads you to many of the places the volume is for sale at).

The second release announcement is also a Fiction River, this time called No Humans Allowed edited by John Helfers. An anthology filled with stories told from the point of view of aliens, animals, things and more, but not one story is told from the point of view of a human.

My story is called “The Game of Time” and it is from the point of view of a book, the Book of Time to be more exact. This is also a high fantasy tale and the start of a new fantasy world. The world/series doesn’t have a name yet, but it will.

The story is about what happens when the Book of Time makes a mistake and all the consequences that follow.

There are some really great stories in this volume (beside my own, of course ^_~). You don’t even have to trust just me. Tangent Online did a review of the volume. This is what they said about my story:

“The story is interesting and well written…”  —Tangent Online

Just like above, I have a universal link where you can find most retailers to buy Fiction River: No Humans Allowed.

The last news for today are about another Fiction River anthology that will release at the end of June (so in a couple of days!). This one is called Editor’s Choice and is edited by Mark Leslie. And because publishing isn’t always straight forward, this is actually the first story I sold to Fiction River.

The story is called “The Blood is on the Wall” and is a military horror story. Quite different in some ways from what I normally write. Although since my fantasy tend towards the darker side, perhaps not that different.

It is about a woman who works as a UN soldier while vampires are trying to take over the world. When the story starts the vampires are precariously close to taking over the city where the soldier’s sisters live.

And once again I’ve read more or less all the stories in this volume too and I can’t recommend it enough. I actually recommend all Fiction River volumes if you enjoy quality short fiction and read widely across all genres. If you mostly read one or two genres, comment which ones below and I’ll tell you which volumes has mostly/only those genres.

Fiction River: Editor’s Choice will be available at all the common book retailers in a couple of days.

You Can’t Walk Your Rabbit Without a Leash is Published!

Posted: March 31, 2015

One of my strangest titles (so far) have been released. Both the content and the title stands out from other things I write.

You Can’t Walk Your Rabbit Without a Leash is a humorous fairy tale. While I say fairy tale, I don’t mean children’s tale. This one is aimed at adults, although the content should be alright for teenagers too (at least in my opinion).

YouCantWalkYourRabbitWithoutALeash-ebook-cover-webHere’s the description:

In a kingdom where knights woo pretty ladies, and fantastical creatures tell riddles and demand tolls, the princess of the royal family disappears!

The king fears the worst and sends his knights to find the kidnapped princess. He sends them to the east, to the west, to the south, and to the north. Of Sir Lucas, the most skilled knight of them all, the king demands that he find the princess or not come back to the castle for one whole year.

Sir Lucas needs to find the princess or pine for his home and the king for a whole year.

I haven’t written anything like this since I finished this one. However, I recently got some ideas for another humor story, but don’t expect it anytime soon. It needs to percolate before I’ll be ready to tackle it. Plus I have other projects that need to come to fruition soon.

The second story in the Sorceress Islands series is now released (ebook only). Burning Bright is a short story set six years after Heedless and follows Marii and Mikolas through more trouble.

The description is:

Magic only brings trouble.

When natural healer Marii sees fire in the sky, she knows trouble comes for her father, bridge guardian Mikolas. The bridge he guards leads to the island which welcomes mages, and someone no longer hides their magic.

Mikolas and Marii must work together to save the mage and the mage’s family, while keeping their own family from being exposed as traitors to the temple.

No matter what they do, someone will die.

Heedless is Published!

Posted: January 2, 2015

I’m happy to be able to say that Heedless is now published. It is the short story that starts the Sorceress Islands series.

It was conceived over a year ago. I really enjoyed writing it. It is fantasy, which is the genre that has been my home in reading and writing, although I am spreading my wings nowadays into other genres.

Here’s the description of Heedless:

On a nice spring day, bridge guardian Mikolas relaxes with his daughter while on duty. No one wants to cross the magical bridge because anyone from the other side who crosses will be executed on the grounds of being a mage. That day a mage boy waddles onto the bridge before Mikolas can stop him.

Now he must convince the boy’s father to give up his child or they will all be executed.

You can find it in most ebook stores eventually. Right now it is live at Amazon, Kobo, Smashwords, and a couple of more places.

To find links go to the dedicated page for Heedless; I will update with more links there as it goes live in all places. However, just search for Heedless or Felicia Fredlund in your favorite store and you should find it. (At time of posting it is live at: Amazon, Scribd, Kobo, Inktera, and Smashwords.)

Contact me if you have any problems.

Enjoy!

PS. The beautiful cover is made by Ravven.
