Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 2018-06-23
General Info
I’ll try to write this as much as possible as a human, but the fact is with privacy laws across the globe I have to hit certain points.
The main thing to know about this policy is that I will never collect more info than I absolutely need for providing the services you want (such as visiting this website, getting my newsletter, leaving a comment), I will never sell your information, and I will not share your information with anyone except with trusted providers of the services I have (example: below you’ll read about MailerLite that takes care of my newsletter).
Who Am I
This website https://www.FeliciaFredlund.com is owned and used by Felicia Fredlund, aka me. You can at any time contact me at felicia@feliciafredlund.com, this includes for privacy inquires.
What Personal Data I Collect and Why I Collect It
Newsletter
I only collect your email for my newsletter and the only way to get the newsletter is to sign up yourself and consenting to receiving marketing messages from me. MailerLite (my mailing list provider, read more below) also captures your IP address when you sign up and uses that IP address to approximate your location.
Blog mailing list
For receiving the blog in your email inbox, I only collect your email and it is collected by you consenting to joining the mailing list. MailerLite (my mailing list provider, read more below) also captures your IP address when you sign up and uses that IP address to approximate your location. The blog does sometimes have marketing messages, which means that subscribing to the blog also means consenting to receiving marketing messages as blog posts. If something changes with the blog mailing list, I might send an admin email.
Commenting
When you leave comments on my site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Contact forms
If you use a contact form on my site or send an email to me, I will receive your email address, the name associated with that email address and/or the name you put into name field, and the contents of the email. I will not use any of this information for marketing purposes.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on my site, you may opt-in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on my site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you have visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Analytics
We have chosen not to have any analytics at this point and therefore we don’t collect it.
MailerLite
I use MailerLite to manage my newsletter and blog mailing list, which are used to send emails to my subscribers. MailerLite is a third-party provider, which may collect and process your data using industry standard technologies to help me monitor and improve my mailing lists.
MailerLite’s privacy policy is available at https://www.mailerlite.com/privacy-policy.
You can unsubscribe from my newsletter and/or blog mailing list by clicking on the unsubscribe link provided at the end of each email.
How Long I Retain Your Data
Contact forms and other emails
I will keep good emails from my readers indefinitely. Writing can be a lonely profession and at times it is good to be reminded that there are readers out there who’ve read and enjoyed my stories.
Other emails I will try to delete after 6 month unless I am obliged to keep them for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Comments
Comments will stay on my site indefinitely. The IP address associated with the comment will be deleted after 60 days.
Newsletter and blog mailing list
I’ll retain your email address on my newsletter and/or blog mailing list for as long as you choose to stay on my list(s). When you are unsubscribed from both newsletter and blog, your email address will be deleted within 30 days. (You can always unsubscribe from one list and stay on the other; only when you are not subscribed to any list will your email address be deleted.)
What Rights You Have Over Your Data
You can at any time request what data I have on you. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Any request for your data or for removal of your data, I will take care of within 30 days.
